Brent Hoy joins the Band on Soprano from Woolston.

We are thrilled to be able to announce that Brent has recently moved to Wanganui from Christchurch.
Brent is a player of the highest calibre and experience, having played soprano with the wonderful Woolston Band for many years. He has also been a soprano player in a number of National Bands of New Zealand. Brent will add tremendous depth to our cornet team.
Welcome to Wanganui, Brent.

 
 
May Sadly we announce the recent passing of a past player, Jack Ibell.
Jack was a wonderful cornet player, playing with both the two Wanganui bands on a number of occasions over the years.
He was a member of the National Bands of New Zealand in 1953 and 1962 and won the Open Cornet Championship on several occasions.
Our condolences go to his family.
 
 July

The Band performed a super concert at the Wanganui R.S.A. Rooms for the Jazz Club.
Many favourable comments were made following this event.

 
 August

 The Band presented a magnificent "Last Night of the Proms" concert in the Royal Wanganui Opera House. This event was totally sold out and was a triumph for both Producer Tony cowan and Musical Director, Bruce Jellyman. The Band continues to go from strength to strength.

 September

 The Band won every event (bar the Presentation) at the Central Districts Contest in New Plymouth. This, despite being under real pressure from illnesses and having 5 players missing at the National Secondary Schools' Band week.
